$100,000 grant for Malaga crime prevention

The City of Swan on behalf of the Malaga Crime Management Forum(MCMF) has received $104,640 from the Federal Government to help prevent crime and achieve a safer, more secure business community in Malaga

The funding comes from the National Community Crime Prevention Programme, an Australian Government initiative, and will assist in the implementation of the Malaga Community Safety and Crime Prevention Strategy.
The project, managed by the Malaga Crime Management Forum, is a partnership between the Ballajura Police, the Malaga and Districts Business Association and the City of Swan.
The funding will go towards a range of crime prevention and community safety initiatives, including purchasing closed circuit TV units, distribution of information record sheets, placement of warning signs on major roads, community perception surveys and employing a part-time project officer.
Malaga is the City of Swan’s largest industrial area, consisting of an estimated 1900 businesses and more than 11,000 employees, and crime prevention in the area is a priority,” City of Swan Mayor Charlie Gregorini said.
“The Malaga Community Safety and Crime Prevention Strategy builds on an existing community safety project, and ultimately aims to improve the feeling of safety and security in the area and discourage criminal and anti-social behaviour,” he said.
“This project is another example of how partnerships can produce successful initiatives and promote positive outcomes for the community.”
