Bulk Wood Waste Collection

The City of Swan is pleased to report that the East Metropolitan Regional Council’s (EMRC) new facility for the recycling of waste timber has been opened in the Hazelmere industrial area.

In conjunction with the opening of this new Timber Recycling Centre, the City of Swan are offering to all businesses in Malaga the opportunity to participate in a FREE trial program to dispose of any unwanted pine or softwood pallets and off-cuts (excluding sawdust).

The issue of wood waste disposal in Malaga was first brought to light in 2003 with the City of Swan conducting surveys to find out how businesses were disposing of their wood waste material and at what costs etc.

We are pleased to say that with the Hazelmere Timber Recycling Centre opening, business now have a place to dispose of these materials in a cost effective manner, and to assist in the effective recycling of the material.

The City of Swan’s, Waste Management Department, propose to pick up your softwood waste from the verge of your premises during the week of April 14 – 18, 2008. You will be required to place your wood waste on the verge no earlier than the week prior to this date.

PLEASE DO...
** Place soft wood waste 1metre from curb
** Individual items to be no longer than 3m in length, 1.5m wide and 1.0m high
** Stack you piles in a safe and tidy manner

DON'T
*  No hard wood products, ie, Jarrah, structural roofing timbers etc
*  No pallets which are leased or returnable to a third party
*  No general waste
*  No Sawdust
*  No treated or painted timber products

This collection is a one-off trial to enable us to gauge the need for possible future collections.
