BEST EMPLOYER AWARDS 2009

The Best Employers program will help you to discover where you sit in relation to other businesses in WA.

So the question is; Is your company a Best Employer in WA? The Best Employer Awards for 2009 celebrates companies within WA that are striving for the best practice daily. Companies entering the WA Best Employer Program participate by engaging in an Employee Feedback Survey, a uniquely designed survey developed specifically for the WA business market with a strong emphasis on attraction and retention of valuable employees. What is keeping your best staff with you and what is attracting the best staff out there to you over your competitors?

The Best Employer Awards are open to Western Australian companied across all industries that fall within the following three categories:

1. Small 25 - 50 Staff

2. Medium 51- 200 Staff

3. Large 201 – upwards

Benefits of registering into the Best Employer Awards:
         ·        Designed from the ground up specifically for the WA business market, it is a unique employee feedback survey that is unparalleled.
         ·        You will receive a comprehensive and meaningful report that will dig down on what each demographic is saying about you and what they each want and need from an employer. As you can imagine what a Gen Y employee wants and needs can be significantly different from what a Baby Boomer values in their roles.
         ·        The survey is about attraction and retention, being innovative within your organisation, looking outside the box. Asking yourself this - Are your employee's actively out there promoting your business? The survey features a unique section that informs you of your Net Promoter Score - who is saying great things about the company to all they are in contact with and who are your digressers - who are telling others negative things about your company. This part of the survey includes an open ended question, being: "What would make your score higher?" This is where you will find out the specifics that your employees think need improving.
         ·        Also ask yourself - Is the brand in line with the company? What do your employees say about you or the business? Are you having difficulty attracting employees? Do you know why employees join and leave? Have you calculated the cost of employee turnover? How long do your employees plan on staying with you?
         ·        This survey contains science & data based on global scores and effectiveness, strategic information to benefit your business, not to mention that the survey itself only takes 7 minutes as it is instantaneous and online!

WA Business News is working in conjunction with Insync Surveys to find out........
Who will be ranked WA's Best Employer?

Please Note* Individual companies survey results are completely confidential and WA Business News will not receive any specifics - only the benchmark reports. The privacy statement can be found on the Best Employers website.

THE BEST EMPLOYERS SURVEY IS ALL ABOUT YOUR INTERNAL BRAND – YOUR PEOPLE

It will tell you what key generational groups (gen y, gen x, baby boomers) think is ‘great’ about working for you, and where you can ‘improve’.

It’s not a culture or an engagement or a satisfaction survey, it’s not a generic run of the mill survey. It has been specifically designed for WA - it’s about the factors you can influence to attract and retain the right workforce for your organisation.

“If in my mind I GET what I need and feel supported from my employer, I’m more than likely to GIVE my employer my support and loyalty (performance)’

The five factors are:

the people – teamwork, quality of management –how important is this and how are we performing?
the work – location, travel – how important is this and how are we performing?
the organisation- market position, technology etc – how important is this and how are we performing?
the reward – compensation and benefits – how important is this and how are we performing?
the opportunity – career and development – how important is this and how are we performing?

So why are so many businesses in WA getting involved in the Best Employers program?

WHY SURVEY?

PRICE

Can’t afford a real survey (think $10,000+) so this is a great introduction to employee measurement. Those who have not surveyed before but always wanted to!

EXTERNAL BRANDING THE ‘WINNERS’, THOSE THAT WANT THE EDGE IINET – just for the local branding
Neptune Marine – just for the local branding

INNOVATION
Key to their organisational brand proposition eg Georgiou Group, WABN, etc

WANT TO HELP THEIR PEOPLE - VOICE OF THE EMPLOYEE
Want to be seen as ‘listening’ to their employees

Using a 3rd party for confidentiality is key (Decmil, WA Aids Council, Workpower etc)

TIMING
Going into the new financial year – a way to draw a line in the sand re their employee brand

Economic Downturn – want to be seen as proactive during tough economic times.
Want to know if their employees fear losing their jobs?

For a survey of this type you would normally expect to pay in the vicinity of $5000+.

It really is a fantastic survey that gives employers some real valuable and meaningful information and tools for their business.
